Choosing natural wood flooring is not only about its captivating and profound beauty—something no artificial wood floor can ever achieve—but also about selecting a flooring material that is both elegant and safe for human health.

Understanding this, in addition to choosing the best and most stable types of wood, Real Tree also ensures that the coating process is the safest possible. The coatings are designed to resist scratches, preserve the natural color of the wood, and remain safe and friendly to human health.

UV COATING FOR NATURAL WOOD FLOORING

At present, Real Tree’s flooring coating line is one of the most modern and advanced systems from Germany.

The floors are coated with Treffert UV water-based coating, manufactured in Germany—a high-quality product considered one of the most premium UV coatings available today. Natural wood flooring at Real Tree is finished with 8 layers of UV coating, cured by ultraviolet light, along with 2 layers of wax applied to the edges of each plank, helping to minimize moisture absorption during use. As a result, the flooring is highly resistant to warping and blistering.

In addition to providing natural wood flooring products, with our fully automated coating line we also offer UV coating services on flat surfaces as well as PU coating technology on semi-automatic coating systems.

WHAT IS UV COATING

UV coating technology: UV coating is a type of finish cured by ultraviolet (UV) light, specifically used for wooden interior products. Compared to traditional coatings (PU, NC, AC, …), UV coating has many superior properties.

Advantages:

✔️ Light yellow to transparent solution, maintaining the natural beauty of wood flooring

✔️ Fast curing ability (almost instant once passing through the UV drying chamber)

✔️ Treffert coating from Germany with very low chemical content, safe for users’ health and environmentally friendly

✔️ Provides excellent coverage with scratch and abrasion resistance, protecting the floor from harmful factors such as weather

PU Coating

PU Technology: Polyurethane (PU) is a type of polymer with many applications in daily life. PU exists in two main forms: rigid and foam. In woodworking, PU is commonly used as a varnish (PU paint) to polish and protect wooden furniture. Currently, there are two types of PU coatings:

  • PU-1K (one-component PU)

  • PU-2K (two-component PU)

Advantages of PU coating:

✔️ Good adhesion, high hardness, and high solid content

✔️ Colorfast, resistant to harsh weather, heat resistant, and anti-yellowing

WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF NATURAL WOOD FLOORING WITH UV COATING?

✔️ Does not contain harmful substances such as formaldehyde

✔️ Safe for skin contact and even mouth contact with the surface

✔️ The coating contains no vinyl resins

✔️ Does not release toxic gases when burned or decomposed – provides strong adhesion to the wood surface

✔️ Preserves the natural color of the wood

✔️ Enhances abrasion resistance, hardness, and scratch resistance of the flooring surface

UV COATING PROCESS FOR WOOD FLOORING

Step 1: Primer Coating: This layer acts as an adhesive bond between the coating material and subsequent layers. It ensures strong adhesion between the layers, providing maximum protection for the product.

Step 2: Infrared Drying: The wooden planks are passed through a specialized infrared drying machine, creating a perfect surface and increasing the hardness of the coating.

Step 3: Putty Coating: This process smooths the surface of the premium natural wood flooring and conceals imperfections in the wood.

Step 4: UV Drying + Primer Layer 1 + Primer Layer 2: This stage includes UV drying and applying the first primer layer. Each plank is passed through a specialized ultraviolet drying machine and cured under strict timing standards of Real Tree. After UV drying, the flooring boards are coated with two primer layers to smooth the surface and improve adhesion for the next UV coating.

Step 5: UV Drying + Paint Sanding + Dust Removal + Primer Layer 3 + Primer Layer 4: This is the second round of UV drying and priming. At this step, sanding and dust removal are added to clean the boards, improving surface cleanliness, adhesion, and bonding for the following coatings.

Step 6: UV Drying + Primer Layer 5 + Primer Layer 6: The procedures here are repeated as in Step 4.

Step 7: UV Drying + Sanding + Dust Removal + First Topcoat: The UV drying and dust removal processes are performed as before. At this step 7, the first topcoat is added, which provides scratch resistance and a glossy finish to the surface.

Step 8: UV Drying + Second Topcoat Stage

Step 9: UV Drying: This is the final UV coating. The layer are cured in the specialized machine for a longer duration compared to previous UV coatings.

Step 10: Completion of Coating and Product Finishing: The finished product is now ready to be released to the market.

Currently, it is very rare to find flooring suppliers on the market that own modern and advanced coating lines, as well as coating quality that meets both durability and safety standards

Therefore, you should carefully consider and research thoroughly before making a purchase decision to avoid unnecessary errors and inconveniences during use.

With carefully selected wood blanks and a modern coating line, Real Tree not only delivers products with high aesthetics and safety for human health but also ensures top quality at all times.
